About Creative Art Therapy Short Course

This short course is to provide a general knowledge with practical experience in using Creative Art as therapy that focus on positive mind, strength, healthy lifestyle, personal growth, personal development, and wellness. 
 

Course Objectives:

  • To learn what are the terms and theories in Creative Art Therapy
  • To understand how creativity and art can be used as therapy 
  • To understand how art therapy being used as main core psychological treatment for psychological issues such as anger, inappropriate behaviours, depression, anxiety, fear, withdrawal, school bully, cyber bully, stress, trauma, distress, etc.
  • To know how art therapy can be enhanced in therapuetic effects with mindfulness and meditation for therapeutic experience, spiritual journey and help in any healing or recovery from any illness
  • To learn the journey of art in therapy to maximize full potential through personal growth, awareness, transformation, reflection insights, and improve the quality of life

Course Outline: 

Course structure is based on progressive level and covers both theory and practice in Creative Art Therapy. 

  • Syllabus covers psychological aspect of creative mind and art. How art is being evolved into a field of Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis and Wellness. The Difference between art as therapy and in therapy. What are some of the intervention and treatment used by Master level trained art therapists. The cultural differences between Western and Eastern values of Creative Art Therapy. What are some side effects of malpractice in art therapy. 
  • The course also covers some Creative Art Therapy case studies
  • Participants are expected to gain first hand experience of creative art therapy during the course.
Language medium: English or Mandarin

Course fee:

  • Fee $800/= for a block of 6 sessions, 2 hours per session. To be completed within 3 months from the date of registration, otherwise, it will be expired and forfeited.
  • Application and Registration fee: $80, Non-refundable one time payment.
  • Basic Art Materials: $120
  • Participants successfully completed all 6 sessions will receive a Certificate of Attendance from UniqArts and Technologies

About the Lecturer : Paul, Thiam Seng, Lee (Mr)
  • Mr. Lee Thiam Seng (Paul) is an artist, art therapist, and consultant based in Singapore. 
  • Paul holds a Master in Arts - Art Therapy with LASALLE College of the Arts and a Bachelor Management Degree with Royal Melbourne Institute of Technologies. He is also trained in fine arts from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). 
  • Paul is the founder, director and trainer of UniqArts and Technologies. 
  • Mr. Lee has facilitated many creative and art projects for therapeutic and developmental for children and adult. He has experiences in running individual and group art therapy treatment for pupils at Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN), women with breast cancer at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH), psychotic patients at Changi General Hospital (CGH) Psychiatric Ward, older adults (geriatric) at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital's (KWSH) Day Rehabilitative Center and Geriatric Day Hospital (GDH) at CGH. Mr. Lee conducted a research at KKH with Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for his Master thesis: "Art Therapy as a Modality of Healing in Stages - For Women with Breast Cancer."
  • Furthermore, Mr. Lee led many UniqArts Creative Therapies and some of the corporate clients are Chevro, Cherie Hearts Kindergarten, Faber Castell, Health Promotion Board, National Library Board, Singapore Police Force, Singapore Prison, Schools, Feiyue, PCF, SBS Transit, NTUC, OAG, TOUCH Community, United Square, Unilever, etc.
  • Mr. Lee is currently running his own private practice of art therapy by integrating it into art education, creative workshop, retreat, and available for contract consultant works for school, hospitals, corporate retreat program and institutions in need of art therapy services.
  • Mr. Lee is currently member of Advisory Council of Art Therapy Without Borders, Inc. "a 501 (c) 3 non-profit incorporation organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and networking purposes to promote, develop, and support international art therapy initiatives and the work of art therapists worldwide".
